ABOUT me
I was born in Toronto in Canada and spent a lot of time living in Montreal before semi-relocating to Los Angeles, splitting my time between Montreal and LA. I've always practiced different art forms and in university I decided I wanted to be like the Renaissance artists who did as much as they could artistically and intellectually, and excelled so much. I think doing different artforms keeps me inspired and progressing in all of them since blending colours with paint is not that different than blending notes in music.
After graduating from the Liberal Arts College and Communications Department at Concordia University in Montreal, I worked in public broadcasting and within the film and television industries in Toronto and Montreal. After a few years I decided I wanted to make a film so I shot a Green Party candidate's 2004 election campaign. With a small grant, "Democracy 4 Dummies" was born, and it's now in libraries across Canada and distributed by the National Film Board. When I moved to LA I joined a band called "Light FM," and am having lots of fun playing keyboards and singing. I'm also a freelance radio journalist, and I shoot and edit short high profile event videos for entertainment clients in the US and Canada.
I started a production company called The Man Productions to produce "Democracy 4 Dummies". I'm developing other film, doc, and comedy ideas, and if you have any questions or would like to speak with me, get in touch at: sophia@themanproductions.com
