RADIO

Sophia became a big fan of radio when she discovered public broadcasting in University, and especially when she was introduced to Glenn Gould's radiophonic style while studying electroacoustics. She bought a stereo mic and mini disc recorder and began recording as much as she could at home, work, traveling. While she was working at CBC in Toronto in 2003 her first radio piece aired, and she continues to produce freelance pieces for various networks.

Here are some of her CBC favourites:

Breaking Up with Bell Canada (National Radio Syndication, 2009)

Going Vegetarian to Save the Planet (National Radio Syndication, 2008)
Amnesty International Greeting Card Campaign (National Radio Syndication, 2003)
The History of the world wide Green Party (The World this Weekend, 2004)
The Iraq War: A Year Later (The Current, 2004)
Consumer column: Yoga classes (National Radio Syndication, 2005)
Consumer column: Long distance phone cards (National Radio Syndication, 2005)
Spa Fundraisers to stay in Canada (National Radio Syndication, 2007)

In 2005, Sophia joined Montreal's CKUT's show "Ecolibrium" as the green news reporter, where she reported on the week's environmental news. She co-hosted the show for a year, and continues to contribute when she has time. You can check out Ecolibrium's website here.
